elderly_visits3Giving talks and taking a dolls house to a retirement home can be very rewarding.  The residents start remembering how things were and what they had in their homes and it gives them the opportunity to chat and gossip plus this is exercising their brains and they are not all sitting looking at each other , they are taking part and joining in!

Even handling the small furniture ( watching with a good eye of course for any miss handling) then start a group conversation about which item they like best,?  which item gives them the most memories?  did anyone have a dolls house when they were young? did any of the men make a dolls house for the children?

Just watching faces light up with first surprise and then enjoyment is rewarding.

Any miniaturist with any time to spare will find they will be made very welcome to visit and chat.
