The Great American Dollhouse Museum is located in Danville, Kentucky. The museum is described as 'a study in social history,' and true to this it indeed gives a wide collection of artifacts in social history. The museum is housed in a magnificent renovated 1939 building. Nevertheless, it is not just the detailed building and furniture that make the museum standout, but the collection is also of particular interest to visitors. The museum houses an intricately crafted miniature collection of the American villages in the 1900s. By looking at the collection, a viewer is immediately immersed into the 1900s period, including the changes that have occurred. The collection captures the intricacies of the community in this period. By looking at the characters present in he community, a viewer will definitely develop a curios notion on the tales behind the communities depicted.

It is therefore no wonder that people from all walks of life flock Danville and are, to say the least, anxious to get a glimpse of the various collections on display. The museum depicts people from numerous parts of the world involved in the day-to-day activities, kids playing with animals, and so on. Therefore, it is recommended that a viewer observe at each setting more than once in order to fully comprehend its meaning. The collection offers visitors an array of varied settings that are both diverse and colorful. The display is also well positioned with houses having an opening at the back so as to allow observers fully immersed themselves in the immense detail the collections are set in and also so that the observer can fully observe and appreciate the display. In addition, the houses are arranged in continuous display mode so that one gets a full impression of the collection right from the start. This is to ensure that the observer develops the idea as he or she advances towards the exit of the museum. This manner of displaying the objects gives the viewer a fully immersed tour of the display.

Perhaps what makes ensures that the Great American Dollhouse Museum remains outstanding is the fact that unlike the traditional museum setting, this museum gives a full configuration of the village setting. This is done by fully configured neighborhoods, streets, forests and country terrain, depicted in a vast, continuous landscape. All these represent the 1900s as they once were. Additionally, the hundreds of old and intricately sculpted and historically dressed figures give an impression of an interaction between the past American society and the present. This is shown in the display of gnomes, witches and fairies believed to exist in the past, which today can only be realized in history. The Great American Dollhouse Museum also boasts of a number of lawbres, an important royalty component for dollhouse enthusiasts. Although visitors come to view the collection for varied personal reasons, this has not affected the number of patrons visiting the Great American Dollhouse Museum. This is because the dollhouse collection is an important part to why visitors stopover at the museum.
