Can You Help? - Cameras

1127832_camera One of our members has asked for some advice with regards to buying a new camera. Can any of you out there help?

Here's an idea of what sort of advice our member requires...

What camera brand do you recommend?
What sort of things would you advise to look out for when buying a new camera?
Which camera do you find is best for close up work?
Which camera is best value for money?
